Bruce and Carolyn Adams, of Bismarck ND, have been named as the 2025 recipients of the Metigoshe Ministries Director’s Reflection Award. The Director’s Reflection Award plaque that hangs in the Christian Center says that it is given “to those individuals who have extraordinarily influenced this ministry to the glory of God,” and the Adams truly epitomize this calling and have left a long and varied legacy at Metigoshe.
Active in their church and the communities where they have lived throughout their lives, Bruce and Carolyn actively support a wide variety of organizations and causes and Metigoshe Ministries is thankful for the ways in which they have been involved in our mission as well. They are regular attendees at Metigoshe Lutheran Church throughout the summer when they are at the lake.
Nearly fifty years ago, Metigoshe Ministries inaugurated our Century III annual fund giving club, and the Adams’ name appears at the head of that list of faithful donors, who have seen the importance of providing financial support to keep camp costs affordable and hire the best possible staff. And from those early days, they were also active in program participation too, sharing stories about early marriage enrichment retreats led by director Pastor Mark Ronning “where we would sleep in the bunks at the back of the Christian Center.”
More recently, they have also been participants in Camp Metigoshe’s Grandparents’ Camp programming. And through their time in that program, the depth of their care and passion for our shared Adventure Anchored in Christ becomes clear. During their time at camp, Bruce and Carolyn spent time not just with their grandson, but also focused on building relationships with our camp staff. Caring enough to ask some of the counselors from their program, “What would help make camp better – not only overall, but also for you as staff members?” Out of those conversations with camp staff and then with our current director, Pastor Jon Halvorson, a new fleet of washers and dryers were soon installed at camp.
In this, and so many other ways, Bruce and Carolyn Adams have shown their deep love and care for Metigoshe Ministries. Thank you for your decades of passionate support and participation in this special ministry: you truly help to bring Adventure Anchored in Christ to life so that “people can experience and celebrate the gifts of God in a life together.”
