Deb and Tim Syvertson have been named as recipients of the 2023 Metigoshe Ministries Director’s Reflection Award. Tim and Deb live just down the road from Camp Metigoshe, on Loon Lake, and they are members of Metigoshe Lutheran Church. The Syvertson’s have a history of deep involvement in the mission and ministry of Metigoshe–including the time that Tim spent as a youth summer camper when Camp Metigoshe was on Lake Metigoshe. In more recent years, Tim and Deb have returned to their summer camp roots by bringing their granddaughters to Grandparents’ Camp out at Pelican Lake. They were also involved in some of the early retreating experiences soon after the Christian Center was built.
In addition to their participation in the various aspects of our ministry, Tim and Deb have been dedicated volunteers both at the Christian Center and out at camp. The two of them are especially fond of spending time in our Camp MetiGROWshe Garden. After her formal retirement from a career in education, Deb found a second career on staff in a wide variety of both support and leadership roles working with our year-round staff. Her wisdom and passion for Metigoshe Ministries were especially helpful in helping to coordinate our recent Ensure the Adventure capital campaign. Tim and Deb were also major donors to the capital campaign, in addition to their long commitment to Metigoshe’s Century III annual fund support.
The Director’s Reflection Award plaque that hangs in the Christian Center says that it is given “to those individuals who have extraordinarily influenced this ministry to the glory of God.” Tim and Deb: thank you for all you have done, and continue to do, in support of our mission.
