Discoverers II 4:40-5:00 pm Sunday August 4 1:30 pm Friday August 9 2:00 pm - Someone Else is Going to Pick Up My Camper. What Do I Do or Need to Fill Out?
If a parent/guardian is unable to pick up their camper, a Parents Permission to Release form must be completed. This form is available by logging into your camper’s online account and is in the forms section. This form allows you to list the people who may be picking up your camper.
If a change of plans regarding who is picking up your camper during their week at camp happens, please call camp at 702.263.4936 and let them know of the change.
- Can My Child Drive Him/Herself to Camp?
Although we prefer that you drop your child off at camp and meet their counselor, your camper is allowed to drive themselves to camp if you have permitted them to do so. Once they arrive at camp and check in, they will be asked to turn in their car keys as well as their cell phone until camp concludes for the week. Please also mark on the Parent Permission to Release form that they will be checking themselves out of camp.
- I am trying to add money to my trading post account but can no longer find where to add the money. What do I do?
To prepare for summer camp, we turn off access for parents/guardians to deposit money into their account at least 1 week prior to camp. If you do not see a place where you can add money, you can send money to camp with your camper and have them turn it in to the staff in the Trading Post when they check-in. The trading post is also open on the day of check-in and also the day campers are picked up. We highly encourage you to shop with your camper at those times as well. All snacks and arts/crafts supplies are included in our registration fee, so trading post money is only used for Camp Metigoshe merchandise.
- Can you tell me who my child’s cabin mate is going to be?
If you had a cabin mate request we work hard to honor that request. With that, in order to build a strong camp community and provide strong camp programming we want campers to be able to build relationships with their cabin mates when they get to camp and not worry before camp who will be in their cabin. Our staff are highly trained in helping campers bond and get to know one another. Because of the way we have chosen to structure our camp programming, we ask you to allow your camper to find out who their cabin mates are when they get to camp.
- We would like to request a certain counselor for our child.
Our summer staff’s duties change from week to week with some being on-site and others on the road at our many day camps. Because of how we staff our programs and the need for our staff to be flexible, we do not take counselor requests. We are sure excited to hear that your camper has bonded with our staff though!
- I have heard camp is ‘rustic’. What does this mean?Camp Metigoshe is intentionally rustic. This means that instead of typical amenities you might be used to at home, we do things a little differently. Instead of flush toilets, we use outhouses! Instead of light bulbs in your cabin at night, we use lanterns! We don’t use showers, but instead clean ourselves with our sauna, and by hopping into our lake!Being rustic also means that we spend our time “unplugged” from the technology we spend so much time with. Things like cell phones, tablets, video games, and computers are left at home. We do this to allow campers to more intentionally live in the present moment. Instead of being connected to the world through a screen, worrying about social media, appearances, and more, campers get to experience their immediate surroundings, forming meaningful relationships and memories that will last a lifetime. We go as far as not telling campers what time it is so that rather than focusing on what might be coming next, they enjoy whatever they may be doing in that moment!
- What is the Christ Hike?
The Christ Hike is a walking re-enactment of the last few days of Jesus’ life. We walk through camp and stop at different spots to watch Jesus story come alive. This is sure to be one of the highlight impactful memories of your camper’s week!
- When does the Christ Hike start and how long does it last?
Guests are welcome to join us for the Christ Hike on Wednesday evenings. It typically starts around an hour before sundown. Call us at 701-263-4936 Wednesday mornings and we will give you the exact start time.
