Are you hoping the Christmas season never ends? Ready to relax and take some time to celebrate the season? If you answered “Yes,” please join us for the 55th Annual Nights of Christmas with Metigoshe Ministries on December 27, 28, and 29 beginning at 7:00 pm each evening at the Lakeside Christian Center. It is a place where the “treetops glisten” and “all is merry and bright!”
Again this year, the returning summer staff of Camp Metigoshe will be joined by special guests for a combined Christmas program of music, laughter, and worship, highlighted by the beautiful
sight of thousands of lights hanging in the trees. With the hectic pace of the Christmas holiday behind us, we will slow down to appreciate the gift God gave us in a manger in Bethlehem.
Plan to join us for one or all three nights this Christmas season. No tickets required; each evening a free-will offering will be taken for the continuing ministry of the camp. See more information on our performers below.
Sloughgrass Band – December 27
Since 2002, Sloughgrass has been a mainstay of the upper Midwest music scene, weaving together the traditions of bluegrass, Americana, country, and gospel with an unmistakable Northern Minnesota spirit.
Fronted by Judith Nelson (vocals, rhythm guitar, fiddle) and joined by Soren Olesen (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Christine Hultman (banjo, vocals), Joe Olson (doghouse bass) and Julie Olsen (viola), Sloughgrass delivers a dynamic mix of heartfelt originals and fresh interpretations of classic American roots music. Their performances are marked by tight harmonies, skilled instrumentation, and an inviting stage presence that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Approximately half of Sloughgrass’s repertoire features original songs penned by Judith, whose writing draws from the landscapes, lives, and stories of the Northwoods. The remainder of their sets are thoughtfully curated selections from the rich traditions of bluegrass, gospel, and classic country.
Over the years, Sloughgrass has seen members go on to national stages — with alumni Gary Hultman now touring with Blue Highway and Holger Olesen performing with The Little Roy and Lizzy Show — a testament to the band’s deep musical roots and ongoing influence.
Based in Birchdale and Minnesota Hill, Sloughgrass continues to perform throughout Minnesota and the surrounding states, bringing their authentic sound to festivals, fairs, concert halls, churches, and private events. Their commitment to genuine musicianship and community spirit remains the foundation of everything they do.

Garrett Munro – December 29
Garrett Munro was born and raised in Rolla, ND. He is a graduate from University of North Dakota with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He currently lives in Valley City, ND and works as a manufacturing engineer for John Deere. Garrett loves spending time at Lake Upsilon in the summer, and his hobbies are guitar, running, lifting, snow skiing, water skiing and hunting.
At the age of 15 he started playing a guitar that was gifted by his uncle. To this day that is the only guitar he owns. With his bass vocals and acoustic style, Garrett gravitated to playing acoustic country music and began to appreciate the messages in the lyrics. He has since played at all types of parties, bonfires, weddings, church services, Adoration, bars, assisted livings, and for many other events.
Although just a hobby for Garrett, he enjoys playing for others, especially when it is well received.
