Nights of Christmas Performer Rick Adams

Our first evening performer for Nights of Christmas on December 27 is Rick Adams. Born and raised in Moorhead, MN, Rick Adams knew early on that he wanted to be a musician. As a child, he always had a song in his head and in his heart.  His mother recalls that she always knew he was home from school when he would burst through the door singing a song. A self-taught guitarist and singer at the age of 16, he had a passion for the way music made him feel and knew that he wanted to spread that love for music to his friends, family, and eventually to his fans.

In his freshman year of college, Rick started his first band “Sweetwater” with some friends from high school and started to play gigs wherever they could. After 3 years of fronting his own band, he was offered a job playing rhythm guitar and singing with the regional/Nashville recording band, “Burbank Station.” This is where he got his first experience as a recording artist and was part of the band’s chart success when their single, “An Angel Cries” broke into the Top 100 of the Cashbox and Billboard charts.  Rick spent 6 years with Burbank Station. During that time the band relocated to Minneapolis, MN to form the core of the “Mississippi Live Country All-Stars,” an 8-piece house band at “Billy Bob’s Country Nights” located at the “Mississippi Live” entertainment complex in Minneapolis.

In 1994, Rick moved back to the Fargo/Moorhead area, and along with some friends, started the band, “The Roosters.”  They played the tri-state region of Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota for 26 years and quickly became the area’s top Country band. They performed in Detroit Lakes, MN at the world’s largest Country music/ Camping festival, “We-Fest” more times than any other regional act.

Today, Rick Adams is held in high regard as one of the region’s top acoustic shows. He loves to bring back the hits of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s best Country artists, as well as the sounds of the 70’s classic yacht rock. In 2022, Rick recorded his self-penned song, “Peace, Love, and Positive Vibes,” a tribute to his son, Payton Adams, with a positive message for us all to be good to each other. In 2023, he recorded his follow-up single, “This Trip with You,” a song about our journey through life, mistakes made, and lessons learned. Both songs are available for download on iTunes and also have videos on YouTube.  Click on the links to go to each of the hit songs: This Trip With You and Peace, Love and Positive Vibes
