The 2020 COVID19 pandemic has had a major impact on Metigoshe Ministries – as it has on people and organizations all over the world. But our vision and mission for ministry has not been altered!
After having to shut down for nearly four months, Metigoshe was able to re-open and host a modified summer camp in July and August. Likewise, retreat programming was able to resume for smaller groups and individual & family getaways.
We were thrilled to be able to welcome over 450 campers to experience Adventure Anchored in Christ this summer – and to host all seven weeks of onsite camp without a single case of COVID19. And we also provided “At Home Adventures” digital camp for those who were unable to attend in person – with over 150 participants.
But as you can imagine program income took a large hit – much larger than our ability to reduce expenses during that same time-frame. This has created financial challenges to our ministry as we carefully navigate our way into an uncertain future. Now, despite the loss in revenue from greatly shortened and reduced summer camps and retreats, we still intend to fully fund our ministry by year’s end.
With careful management and cost cutting wherever possible, there still remained the need for 2020 gifts totaling $427,000 to meet our financial commitments. We have received good news about this need, however. As of July 1, $194,000 had already been given! And so, in September the appeal goal was set for $235,000. And, as of October 15, an additional $47,000 in gifts has been received toward the appeal goal. We’re well on our way!
And, we are grateful to have a handful of Metigoshe donors who have stepped into this challenge by making $40,000 in matching gifts available to help us reach this goal! For every gift that you make to the Resurgency appeal – no matter the size – a $200 match will be added to your total!
Although we have until the end of the year to meet this match, we are preparing to kick off a special focus in the coming three weeks that will culminate in a “Week of Giving” from November 1-8. Letters and emails will be sent to Metigoshe supporters. Information will soon go up on our website and social media. And, during the Week of Giving, dozens of volunteers will be making phone calls to hundreds of Metigoshe supporters asking for your support during this uncertain time.
